I'm no longer using this blog as the project blog for Fence.

Fence 0.8 rc3 (Fence-0.8rc3.zip) is ready for download.
The second release of the 0.8 beta is ready for public consumption. This release should be considered feature complete but may have bugs or unexpected behavior. Feedback and suggestions are welcome
This weekend I pumped out several thousand lines of code to refactor and reorganize Fence so that it can provide functionality to multiple services. Check out this article on my Vox blog for more information.
Development of release 0.8 is chugging along. I've got a bucket of ideas to pull from thanks to the email that I've been getting from users and testers.
One of the main things that I'm working on right now is adjusting the prefs in a way that puts more of a focus on content. Instead of telling the application how to handle blogs and galleries, we use the preferences to describe how we want to handle images or videos or text.
I'm also working on adding TypeList support which will really open up some new doors. Right now I think I'm only going to build in support for url lists but that might soon change.
If anyone knows a good cocoa/c library for getting amazon item information out of amazon urls let me know.

Release 0.7 is no longer broken and you should be able to use it without any issues now. Please let me know of any bugs or feature requests.
Release 0.8 is coming up and I've got some fairly significant changes in store. The first is category selection. Now in addition to listing your blogs and galleries, it'll also retrieve the categories available to each blog and allow you to have new entries (text and/or media) automatically categorized as they are posted. This way you can categorize quick posts under 'quick notes' or images under 'quick images' or whatever.
The next change is the ability to quickly key through the blog list to select the target blog to post entries to. It'll give a quick notification via growl to let you know which one has been selected and is active.
The big feature addition to Fence in version 0.8 will be url TypeList support. Release 0.7 added the ability to distinguish between images, text posts and urls so to really take advantage of that users will now have the option of having urls dragged onto the app to be added to a selected url TypeList. This is the easiest way to make quick additions to your TypeList bookmarks to show what you are interested in and to review later for blogging. I do plan on adding more TypeList support in the future, but I'm starting small for now.

Fence 0.7 is here with some new features and big changes. Check out the previous post for more information on what is different.
Release 0.7 is almost ready and to prepare for it I've put together a small list of changes.
Better Content Handling - The content handler has been signifigantly updated to allow for better support of images, filenames, urls and text. This is paving the way to let us associate dragged images/files with blogs or galleries, dragged text with blog posts, dragged urls with TypeLists and so on.
Quick Posting - In addition to being able to handle images from your computer (Finder, iPhoto, etc), you can now drag blocks of text to create new blog entries. This lets you create 'Quick Posts' with your favorite editor ( like TextMate or Vim ) by selecting the text and dragging it directly to the application window. Creating new blog entries couldn't be easier.
Growl Notification - In the 'General Preferences' pane there is now the option to enable notification using Growl. After creating new posts or uploading images it sends a signal to Growl to notify the user that it has completed its task.
Code Cleanup - The overall application size and footprint has been reduced.
This release will be available in the next few days.
What I need from you:
Feedback - If you find this application usefull either blog about it or let me know! I'd love to get an idea of how people are using and what they like or don't like about it.
Volunteers - Technically this is an open source application that I've developing in my spare time. This is also my first cocoa application and I'm still learning how it works. If anyone would like to help out please contact me and I'll give you subversion access. What I really need help with is application design. I'd like to give the Preferences some real icons and to clean up the application logo.
